There have been many APOSTASIES in history. There is of course the great apostasy, but there are also COUNTLESS personal apostasies that many people face as they progress through their journey in this gospel.
Those personal apostasies are when we don't honor our covenants, don't take the sacrament or attend church. It's when we pull away and our heading is no longer towards the Savior but all other things of the world that would ask us to forsake HIM.
But just like Joseph Smith, a period of darkness can be ended with your desire to know, your decision to seek and your willingness to PRAY!
